Ar-Raḥmān (#55)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.
1
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ ar-raḥmān AR-RAHMAN
2
عَلَّمَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ `allamal qur-ān Bestowed the Qur'an,
3
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ khalaqal-insān Created man,
4
عَلَّمَهُ ٱلْبَيَانَ `allamahul bayān And taught him to express clearly.
5
ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ ash-shamsu wal qamaru biḥusbān The sun and moon revolve to a computation;
6
وَٱلنَّجْمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسْجُدَانِ wan najmu wash shajaru yasjudān And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration.
7
وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلْمِيزَانَ was samā-a rafa`ahā wawaḍa`al mīzān He raised the sky and set the Balance
8
أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْمِيزَانِ allā taṭghaw fil mīzān So that none may err against the scales,
9
وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلْوَزْنَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا۟ ٱلْمِيزَانَ wa-aqīmul wazna bil qisṭi walā tukhsirul mīzān And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance.
10
وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلْأَنَامِ wal-arḍa waḍa`ahā lil-anām He positioned the earth for all the creatures:
11
فِيهَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَٱلنَّخْلُ ذَاتُ ٱلْأَكْمَامِ fīhā fākihatun wan nakhlu dhātul-akmām There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed,
12
وَٱلْحَبُّ ذُو ٱلْعَصْفِ وَٱلرَّيْحَانُ wal ḥabbu dhul `aṣfi war rayḥān Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses.
13
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny?
14
خَلَقَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن صَلْصَـٰلٍ كَٱلْفَخَّارِ khalaqal-insāna min ṣalṣālin kal fakhhār He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware,
15
وَخَلَقَ ٱلْجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجٍ مِّن نَّارٍ wakhalaqal jānna min mārijin min nār And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire.
16
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny?
17
رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلْمَغْرِبَيْنِ rabbul mashriqayni warabbul maghribayn Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests.
18
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny?
19
مَرَجَ ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ يَلْتَقِيَانِ marajal baḥrayni yaltaqiyān He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together,
20
بَيْنَهُمَا بَرْزَخٌ لَّا يَبْغِيَانِ baynahumā barzakhul lā yabghiyān With an interstice between them which they cannot cross.
21
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
22
يَخْرُجُ مِنْهُمَا ٱللُّؤْلُؤُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ yakhruju minhumallu-lu-u wal marjān Out of them come pearls and coral.
23
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny?
24
وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَـٰمِ walahul jawāril munsha-ātu fil baḥri kal-a`lām His are the high-sailed vessels in deep ocean like the mountains.
25
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny?
26
كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍ kullu man `alayhā fān All that is on the earth is passing,
27
وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ wayabqā wajhu rabbika dhul jalāli wal-ikrām But abiding is the glory of your Lord, full of majesty and beneficence.
28
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny?
29
يَسْـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ هُوَ فِى شَأْنٍ yas-aluhu man fis samāwāti wal-arḍ ۚ kulla yawmin huwa fī sha-n All those there are in the heavens and the earth turn to Him with solicitation, intent on His purpose all the time.
30
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny?
31
سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ sanafrughu lakum ayyuhath thaqalān We shall soon be free to turn to you, O weary caravans,
32
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny?
33
يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَن تَنفُذُوا۟ مِنْ أَقْطَارِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنفُذُوا۟ ۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلْطَـٰنٍ yāma`sharal jinni wal-insi inis-taṭa`tum an tanfudhū min aqṭāris samāwāti wal-arḍi fanfudhū ۚ lā tanfudhūna illā bisulṭān O society of jinns and men, cross the bounds of the heavens and the earth if you have the ability, then pass beyond them; but you cannot unless you acquire the law.
34
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny?
35
يُرْسَلُ عَلَيْكُمَا شُوَاظٌ مِّن نَّارٍ وَنُحَاسٌ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ yursalu `alaykumā shuwāẓun min nārin wanuḥāsun falā tantaṣirān Let loose at you will be smokeless flames of fire so that you will not be able to defend yourselves.
36
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny?
37
فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ وَرْدَةً كَٱلدِّهَانِ fa-idhan-shaqqatis samā-u fakānat wardatan kad dihān When the sky will split asunder, and turn rosy like the dregs of annointing oil,
38
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān Which of the favours of your Lord will you then deny?
39
فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُسْـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسٌ وَلَا جَآنٌّ fayawma-idhin lā yus-alu `an dhanbihi insun walā jānn Neither man nor jinn will be questioned on that day about his sin.
40
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny?
41
يُعْرَفُ ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِى وَٱلْأَقْدَامِ yu`raful mujrimūna bisīmāhum fayu-khadhu bin nawāṣī wal-aqdām The sinners will be recognised by their marks, and seized by the forelock and their feet.
42
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān Which of the favours of your Lord will you then deny?
43
هَـٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِى يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ hādhihi jahannamul latī yukadhhibu bihal mujrimūn This is Hell the sinners called a lie.
44
يَطُوفُونَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانٍ yaṭūfūna baynahā wabayna ḥamīmin ān They will go round and around between it and boiling water.
45
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān Which of the favours of your Lord will you then deny?
46
وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ waliman khāfa maqāma rabbihi jannatān But for him who lived in awe of the sublimity of his Lord, there will be two gardens --
47
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
48
ذَوَاتَآ أَفْنَانٍ dhawātā afnān Full of overhanging branches --
49
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān Which of the favours of your Lord will you then deny? --
50
فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ تَجْرِيَانِ fīhimā `aynāni tajriyān With two springs of water flowing through them both. --
51
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān Which of the favours of your Lord will then both of you deny?
52
فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَـٰكِهَةٍ زَوْجَانِ fīhimā min kulli fākihatin zawjān In both of them there will be every kind of fruits in pairs. --
53
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān Which of the favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
54
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشٍۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنْ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ۚ وَجَنَى ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ دَانٍ muttaki-īna `alā furushin baṭā-inuhā min istabraq ۚ wajanal jannatayni dān Reclining there on carpets lined with brocade, fruits of the garden hanging low within reach.
55
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny?
56
فِيهِنَّ قَـٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرْفِ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ fīhinna qāṣirātuṭ ṭarfi lam yaṭmith-hunna insun qablahum walā jānn In them maidens with averted glances, undeflowered by man or by jinn before them, --
57
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān Which of the favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
58
كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلْيَاقُوتُ وَٱلْمَرْجَانُ ka-annahunnal yāqūtu wal marjān As though rubies and pearls.
59
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān Which of the favours of your Lord will then both of you deny?
60
هَلْ جَزَآءُ ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلْإِحْسَـٰنُ hal jazā-ul-iḥsāni illal-iḥsān Should the reward of goodness be aught else but goodness? --
61
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
62
وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ wa min dūnihimā jannatān And besides these two other gardens --
63
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān Which of the favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
64
مُدْهَآمَّتَانِ mud-hāmmatān Of darkest verdant green --
65
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
66
فِيهِمَا عَيْنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ fīhimā `aynāni naḍḍākhatān With two fountains gushing constantly, --
67
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
68
فِيهِمَا فَـٰكِهَةٌ وَنَخْلٌ وَرُمَّانٌ fīhimā fākihatun wanakhlun warummān With fruits in them, and dates and pomegranates --
69
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
70
فِيهِنَّ خَيْرَٰتٌ حِسَانٌ fīhinna khayrātun ḥisān In them good and comely maidens --
71
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? --
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? --
74
لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَآنٌّ lam yaṭmith-hunna insun qablahum walā jānn Undeflowered by man or by jinn before them, --
75
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? --
76
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍ muttaki-īna `alā rafrafin khuḍrin wa`abqariyyin ḥisān Reclining on green cushions and rich carpets excellent.
77
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ fabi-ayyi ālā-i rabbikumā tukadhhibān How many favours of your Lord will you then deny?
78
تَبَـٰرَكَ ٱسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِى ٱلْجَلَـٰلِ وَٱلْإِكْرَامِ tabārakas-mu rabbika dhil jalāli wal-ikrām Blessed be the name of your Lord, full of majesty and beneficience.
